Kolkata as it is...

Handpulled rickshaws are banned in most part of the city save the northern side. But still these pictures give a typical old world charm which we all miss in this ever expanding hustle and bustle city named Kolkata.Kolkata with its myriad culture of music ,education, politics and communism is now growing at a breakneck speed.Every other day one or the other flyover is inaugaurated, malls are opened on all major streets and even after the Nano dabacle industries are flocking in.But in all this the people of Kolkata still do not forget to sit down at least once to bring that community bonding over a cup of cha or coffee in the very famous Coffee House.

These are the typical alleys of old Kolkata which lies in the Northern side of the city and boasts of all royal families who celebrate their Durga Puja over here with much pomp and glory till date known as" Adibarir Durga Puja"Dont take the picture taken as an indication of the royal houses over this part of the world. The picture tells the story of a typical lower middle class Babumoshai house situated in North Kolkata who remains very content with his small time government job and believes in leading a peaceful life complete with his quota of cha, cigerette and adda over all the worldly affairs....

Now this picture was taken in one of the most famous place named Kumartuli. This is the place from where all the durga idols are made and exported to all over the world.Deals go over crores in these old gullies of Kolkata during those four months of idol making.

Road to honeymoon!!!

Huh now thats the road which we followed together for our honeymoon.Just the two of us in this stupendously beautiful road.Whenever I come across this picture ,gets lost and also it makes me believe that yes India is exceptionally beautiful.

Face of Nayantara

This was taken during the annual sports ceremony in the tribal village near Shantiniketan organised by Nayantara Memorial Charitable Trust. The annual programme which is now a regular affair in this part of the world is the most awaited feature in the calender of these tribal villages. This picture for me was the one which helped me capture the best of the emotions in the most colorful palette.

My first good snap

Hi,
This is my first post and thus starting with my first favourite picture that I took way back in 2006.Not very fond of literary beautification ,will always keep my posts simple.Picture taken with my Nikon coolpix gifted by my girlfriend with her first salary made it more special. It was the last week in Dhanbad,Digwadih. The garden in front of my quarters which was originally put up by my most favourite lady on this earth,my grandmom, was now almost in a very bad shape once she passed away. Still managed to find this beautiful creature and thus it made up for one of the most laudable photographs.
